A fence. She wanted to climb it. I said "no". It turns out that when she said, "climb the fence" that taking one step on it was all she meant. Weird.

The foliage started disappearing and only scary looking trees remained. This pile of rocks is our friend. There are many of them. They mark the "trail".

Crying. "I want my mommy." Actually, she was happy. We still thought the hike was fun at this point.

See? Foliage stops and lava begins. That stuff sucks. Billions of large rocks that don't like to be stepped on, so they try to move out of the way which only makes walking harder.
